Girl or boy?

Almost everyone asked if we expect a girl or a boy. When I got pregnant, I had the feeling that we're getting a boy. But that's maybe because I'm afraid of girls or something. xD On the other hand Fred hoped/thought it was a girl.
Anyhow, when we saw the baby the first time on ultrasound it reminded me somehow of a mini version of Fred. So long and thin. That impression came mostly because the baby turned its back to us as if it wanted to be left alone and keep on sleeping and you could so perfectly see its spine. But then it was too early to tell something about gender because I was only in week 11.

So we were really curious and hoped that the second ultrasound would reveal the gender. As I mentioned before one day before that ultrasound the baby started kicking and the first thing coming up on the screen was the baby kicking with all its power against the uterus. Just had to mention this, because it made such an impression. :P
During the ultrasound the technician measured and checked all the important body parts. And in the end she asked if we have anymore questions. Yes! We would like to know the gender. Lol. But baby was lying mostly on the side and she tried to move it a bit, but then my hip bone was in the way for the scanner. So actually she could not determine 100% that it was a girl but she told us, it's probably a girl.
In the end the most important point was to know that the baby was healthy. And it does not matter if it will be a girl or a boy, because we already have names for both possibilities. That was what gave a sense of security in the whole process because it's like having something checked of a list or "give it a name and you will be less afraid of it".

In other news: this week Fred got one year younger, as he joked, so we invited his family over for coffee yesterday. Everything went nice and harmonic and other than that not much else happened. Here's what's left of the cake:
